Global equities split on Aug. 3 as Asian markets slipped and Wall Street closed higher
Global stock markets turned in mixed performances on Monday, Aug. 3, according to market data cited by ChainCatcher from Gate. In Asia, mainland Chinese benchmarks ended lower, with the Shanghai Composite falling 22.6 points, or 0.59%, to 3,809.66. The Shenzhen Component lost 130.64 points, down 0.96%, to 13,448.29, while the CSI 300 fell 45.02 points, or 0.98%, to 4,543.18. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index moved the other way, gaining 124.97 points, up 0.48%, to 26,009.4.
European markets also showed a split picture. Germany’s DAX30 rose 386.44 points, or 1.51%, to 26,017.22, while the UK’s FTSE 100 slipped 13.15 points, down 0.12%, to 10,854.9. In the United States, stocks closed broadly higher, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average adding 693.38 points, or 1.32%, to finish at 53,178.41.
